As the Patriots approached their preseason game against the Panthers on Friday, there was a lot of talk about the Patriots quarterback reps in this game.  Would Tom Brady play?  Would he start?  How many series would he play?  Is playing Brady in the best interest of the team?  Generally, the third preseason game is […]

With the Red Sox just a 1/2 game out of first place after a successful start to a difficult road trip, it’s now clear that they’re going to need some help at the bottom of their starting rotation.  The Red Sox starting rotation has been outstanding recently with Rick Porcello, David Price, and Eduardo Rodriguez […]

August 17, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Featured, Football, Patriots

In today’s post, we’ll analyze the Patriots QB reps.  It’s an interesting topic considering that the Pats have three quarterbacks who need work even if it’s at different levels and with various priorities.  As we know, Bill Belichick’s main goal is to get Jimmy Garoppolo reps this preseason.  Given that he’ll be the Patriots starting […]

The Red Sox are in the middle of a pennant race and after a sweep of the Diamondbacks, it appears that they are back on the right track.  Obviously, the focus right now is on the 2016 Red Sox and their chances to make a run this postseason.  Offensively, they have what it takes.  The […]

Alex Rodriguez is “retiring” on Friday after the Yankees game.  A-Rod had his big announcement on Sunday.  The announcement itself and how the “retirement” was communicated was a bit of a surprise.  The way the Yankees management discussed it sure sounded like more a release than a retirement.  Whatever you want to call it, there’s […]

Why Is Mookie Betts Hitting Leadoff?

August 4, 2016August 4, 2016 Joe 1 Comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Why is Mookie Betts hitting leadoff?  That’s the subject of today’s post.  It’s been taken for granted by Red Sox Nation that Betts is best suited for the leadoff spot.  He can hit, he’s fast, and he looks like a leadoff hitter.  He’s listed as 5’9″, 180 pounds.  So, he’s s a speedy, little guy […]

First Score Boston - A Boston Sports Blog
The Boston sports teams are about winning and championships. Nine championships in fifteen years speaks for itself! One of the goals of all four teams is to get out in front early by scoring first. The intent of this site is get the "First Score" on multiple Boston sports topics. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be the first time you hear a specific take on a topic with every post just as the Boston teams don't score first every time. However, the intent is to give you, the reader, something unique and provide opinions on a range of topics that you don't always read about every day.

The opinions on my posts are my own. These opinions may not always be favorable and I don't expect that you'll always agree with them. The "First Score" goal is simply for the readers to enjoy reading about these topics as much as I enjoy writing about them. Your comments and feedback are welcome!
