It’s finally here!  Opening Day of the Major League Baseball season is today.  The Red Sox open their season on Monday at Fenway Park.  After another overhyped snowstorm this past weekend, baseball fans along with just about everyone in the Boston area are ready to move to spring.  Monday is the day that happens.  Opening […]

Why Is Mookie Betts Hitting Leadoff?

August 4, 2016August 4, 2016 Joe 1 Comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Why is Mookie Betts hitting leadoff?  That’s the subject of today’s post.  It’s been taken for granted by Red Sox Nation that Betts is best suited for the leadoff spot.  He can hit, he’s fast, and he looks like a leadoff hitter.  He’s listed as 5’9″, 180 pounds.  So, he’s s a speedy, little guy […]

If It Ain’t Broke…

June 2, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” This quote is most likely in line with Red Sox Nation’s thoughts on the Red Sox offense this year.  Heading into Thursday Night’s game against the Orioles, the Red Sox have been far and away the best offense in Major League Baseball.  The Red Sox have scored 317 […]

There’s so much to talk about with the Red Sox and, today, we’re going to share four thoughts on the team.  The Red Sox entered their series with the Houston Astros on Thursday Night with a 21-13 record which is tied for first place in the American League East with the Baltimore Orioles.  The Red […]

Heading into the 2016 season, the Red Sox have six players who are legitimate candidates to be All Stars.  This is a big difference from last year considering that the Sox had just one All Star who was really just a utility player in Brock Holt.  They now have a lot more talent in 2016. […]

With pitchers and catchers due to report to Fort Myers on February 18th, the countdown is on for Red Sox Spring Training and we’re going to take a look at a projected starting nine in the lineup.  Last week, we posted about the Red Sox starting rotation to determine who could be the #2 starter. Expectations of Pedroia

May 26, 2015September 17, 2015 Joe 1 Comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

Dustin Pedroia has had a great career with the Red Sox.  He’s a guy most Red Sox fans like because he plays hard, he has produced, and he’s a likable guy.  Simply put, he’s a winning player.  Over the last two years, his numbers have declined and he has been getting grilled for not producing […]

ABOUT

First Score Boston - A Boston Sports Blog
The Boston sports teams are about winning and championships. Nine championships in fifteen years speaks for itself! One of the goals of all four teams is to get out in front early by scoring first. The intent of this site is get the "First Score" on multiple Boston sports topics. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be the first time you hear a specific take on a topic with every post just as the Boston teams don't score first every time. However, the intent is to give you, the reader, something unique and provide opinions on a range of topics that you don't always read about every day.

The opinions on my posts are my own. These opinions may not always be favorable and I don't expect that you'll always agree with them. The "First Score" goal is simply for the readers to enjoy reading about these topics as much as I enjoy writing about them. Your comments and feedback are welcome! Please follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Google, and Tumblr by clicking the link in the Follow Us section!
Thank you! - Joe
