The Red Sox BIG Problem… (It’s NOT The Bullpen)

October 7, 2018April 26, 2020 Joe 3 Comments Baseball, Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox are heading to Yankees Stadium for Game 3 of the ALDS tied at 1-1.  Give that most objective fans expected a relatively even series that will go five games, this shouldn’t much of a surprise.  What also should not be much of a surprise is a major issue the Red Sox have […]

Wake Up, Red Sox Nation… This Isn’t John Farrell’s Red Sox Team!

August 12, 2018April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are fifty games above .500 on August 12th.  They’re currently on pace to win 115 games.  Only one team in the history of baseball has won more than that in the regular season…the 2001 Seattle Mariners.  The Red Sox also have the #1 and #2 MVP candidates in Mookie Betts and […]

The Red Sox Hidden Problem

April 5, 2018 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

They’re 6-1.  They have the best record in Major League Baseball.  The Boston Red Sox are off to a great start and they have won a lot of close games late…against the Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins.  Every game counts and every team has to “play the schedule”.  The Red Sox have done that […]

Ten 2018 Red Sox Predictions

February 19, 2018April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox enter the 2018 season with tempered expectations.  Despite winning the AL East Title the past two years, the Sox are now the underdogs to win the division crown after the Yankees playoff run and addition of Giancarlo Stanton.  The Red Sox have won just one playoff game in the past two seasons […]

Where Are You, Xander Bogaerts?

September 13, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe 1 Comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

He was going to be the next great Red Sox player.  He was the kid who had can’t miss talent.  He was the guy every MLB team coveted in trades and the Red Sox said “no way”.  He was, at one point early last season, arguably the best hitter in the American League.  Now?  He’s […]

Has The Red Sox Young Core Already Peaked?

August 2, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

Over the course of the 2016 season, the Red Sox had re-established themselves as a powerhouse in the American League.  There were several factors.  The additions of David Price and Craig Kimbrel played an important part of the team’s success.  David Ortiz also had a farewell season to remember.  The biggest reason though was that […]

Baltimore Fine Whine

May 3, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox and Orioles feud on the field continued this week and MLB wants to put a stop to it.  Both teams have played a part in this, but there’s one team that wants you to think they’re not guilty.  It’s the team that hasn’t had a batter hit by a pitch.  It’s the […]

Opening Day: Passing The Torch At Fenway Park

April 2, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

It’s finally here!  Opening Day of the Major League Baseball season is today.  The Red Sox open their season on Monday at Fenway Park.  After another overhyped snowstorm this past weekend, baseball fans along with just about everyone in the Boston area are ready to move to spring.  Monday is the day that happens.  Opening […]

Wake Up, Red Sox Nation!

March 19, 2017 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

We’re two weeks from Opening Day at Fenway Park on Monday, April 3rd.  It certainly doesn’t feel like baseball season in Boston.  Temperatures are struggling to get into the upper 30’s after there was a blizzard watch earlier last week.  Winter is winning out and not just from a weather standpoint.  Boston sports fans are […]

Are We Watching The Best Red Sox Outfield Ever?

February 20, 2017 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Jackie Bradley, Jr., Mookie Betts, and Andrew Benintendi.  These three players are locked in as the Red Sox starting outfield for the next five seasons.  Bradley and Betts won’t be free agents until 2021.  Benintendi is signed through 2023.  On Opening Day this year, Bradley will be 26 years old, Betts will be 24, and […]

ABOUT

First Score Boston - A Boston Sports Blog
The Boston sports teams are about winning and championships. Nine championships in fifteen years speaks for itself! One of the goals of all four teams is to get out in front early by scoring first. The intent of this site is get the "First Score" on multiple Boston sports topics. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be the first time you hear a specific take on a topic with every post just as the Boston teams don't score first every time. However, the intent is to give you, the reader, something unique and provide opinions on a range of topics that you don't always read about every day.

The opinions on my posts are my own. These opinions may not always be favorable and I don't expect that you'll always agree with them. The "First Score" goal is simply for the readers to enjoy reading about these topics as much as I enjoy writing about them. Your comments and feedback are welcome! Please follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Google, and Tumblr by clicking the link in the Follow Us section!
Thank you! - Joe
