The Red Sox Hidden Problem

April 5, 2018 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

They’re 6-1.  They have the best record in Major League Baseball.  The Boston Red Sox are off to a great start and they have won a lot of close games late…against the Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins.  Every game counts and every team has to “play the schedule”.  The Red Sox have done that […]

Price – Eck Fallout Showcases “Farrelling” Red Sox

July 24, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe 1 Comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

The big story of the day is the David Price and Dennis Eckersley story in the Boston Globe by Dan Shaughnessy.  You all know the story by now.  Eckersley is more opinionated than most Red Sox analysts.  He says it how it is.  When Eduardo Rodriguez pitched a dreadful game in a AAA rehab start, […]

This Is The Red Sox Best Rotation EVER

July 20, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox are leading the American League East despite having a mediocre offense.  Their team certainly has flaws and a lot of question marks as they head towards the stretch run.  The Sox should win the AL East, but it can’t be taken for granted given their droughts at the plate and shaky bullpen. […]

The Boston Red Sox currently sit at 31-25 which is two games behind the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East.  The Red Sox are on pace to win 90 games.  Yet, there’s still a feeling of underachieving within Red Sox Nation.  The Red Sox were the clear-cut favorites to win the […]

PRICE Benefit On This SALE

December 6, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Chris Sale to the Red Sox.  Wow!  What looked to be a potentially dull offseason changed dramatically on Tuesday.  The Red Sox started the day by trading Travis Shaw and prospects for Tyler Thornberg.  Thornberg projects to the Red Sox set up man after posting a 2.15 ERA in 67 innings with the Brewers last […]

Grading Dombrowski’s Moves

October 11, 2016October 11, 2016 Joe 1 Comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

The Red Sox just got swept by the Cleveland Indians.  The Sox were the superior team which really makes what happened unacceptable.  Go ahead.  Say it was a successful season because they finished in last place two seasons in a row and they won the division this year. Blah – blah – blah! The expectations […]

Red Sox 2016 All Star Candidates

March 3, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Heading into the 2016 season, the Red Sox have six players who are legitimate candidates to be All Stars.  This is a big difference from last year considering that the Sox had just one All Star who was really just a utility player in Brock Holt.  They now have a lot more talent in 2016. […]

Red Sox Rotation: Who’s #2?

February 3, 2016February 4, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Who’s the #2 starter going to be in the Boston Red Sox rotation this year?  It’s an important question heading into Spring Training.  The success of whoever it is may decide whether or not this will be a playoff team this year.  When the Red Sox signed David Price, they got the clear-cut #1 starter […]

ABOUT

First Score Boston - A Boston Sports Blog
The Boston sports teams are about winning and championships. Nine championships in fifteen years speaks for itself! One of the goals of all four teams is to get out in front early by scoring first. The intent of this site is get the "First Score" on multiple Boston sports topics. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be the first time you hear a specific take on a topic with every post just as the Boston teams don't score first every time. However, the intent is to give you, the reader, something unique and provide opinions on a range of topics that you don't always read about every day.

The opinions on my posts are my own. These opinions may not always be favorable and I don't expect that you'll always agree with them. The "First Score" goal is simply for the readers to enjoy reading about these topics as much as I enjoy writing about them. Your comments and feedback are welcome! Please follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Google, and Tumblr by clicking the link in the Follow Us section!
Thank you! - Joe
