Why Is Mookie Betts Hitting Leadoff?

August 4, 2016August 4, 2016 Joe 1 Comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Why is Mookie Betts hitting leadoff?  That’s the subject of today’s post.  It’s been taken for granted by Red Sox Nation that Betts is best suited for the leadoff spot.  He can hit, he’s fast, and he looks like a leadoff hitter.  He’s listed as 5’9″, 180 pounds.  So, he’s s a speedy, little guy […]

This Sale Is Not For The Red Sox

July 24, 2016July 24, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Chris Sale may be made available as the trade deadline approaches and there have been rumors that the Red Sox are one of the teams that are interested.  Sale is one of the elite pitchers in Major League Baseball and there isn’t a team in the league who wouldn’t want him.  He has a very […]

As we approach the MLB All Star Break, now is a good time to discuss the midseason awards for the Red Sox.  Overall, the Red Sox have had a strong first half of the season as they head into the break in contention for a playoff position.  After two consecutive last place finishes, this is […]

If It Ain’t Broke…

June 2, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” This quote is most likely in line with Red Sox Nation’s thoughts on the Red Sox offense this year.  Heading into Thursday Night’s game against the Orioles, the Red Sox have been far and away the best offense in Major League Baseball.  The Red Sox have scored 317 […]

Red Sox 2016 All Star Candidates

March 3, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

Heading into the 2016 season, the Red Sox have six players who are legitimate candidates to be All Stars.  This is a big difference from last year considering that the Sox had just one All Star who was really just a utility player in Brock Holt.  They now have a lot more talent in 2016. […]

Who’s In Centerfield?

February 24, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

One of the questions which needs to be answered for the Red Sox this spring is who’s in centerfield?  Mookie Betts was the Red Sox every day center fielder last season.  Betts played very well there especially for someone who is a natural second baseman.  Betts is above average defensively and is on the cusp […]

All Betts Are Off

November 12, 2015 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

As the Red Sox approach this offseason which has a potential for some big moves, Red Sox fans can only hope that all Betts are off.  Mookie Betts is as close to untouchable as a player can get.  Sure, he’s not at the Mike Trout or Bryce Harper level at this point, but his ceiling […]

First Score Boston - A Boston Sports Blog
The Boston sports teams are about winning and championships. Nine championships in fifteen years speaks for itself! One of the goals of all four teams is to get out in front early by scoring first. The intent of this site is get the "First Score" on multiple Boston sports topics. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be the first time you hear a specific take on a topic with every post just as the Boston teams don't score first every time. However, the intent is to give you, the reader, something unique and provide opinions on a range of topics that you don't always read about every day.

The opinions on my posts are my own. These opinions may not always be favorable and I don't expect that you'll always agree with them. The "First Score" goal is simply for the readers to enjoy reading about these topics as much as I enjoy writing about them. Your comments and feedback are welcome! Thank you! - Joe
