  • The Creation Of Tom-MEEE Brady

It started with TB12.  The player who was once all about the team first and was in line with this notion that no one player is above the team has all but gone away.  Over time, the man many call the greatest football player of all time has become a “me first” guy. The creation […]
  • What Seemed Impossible On An October Night In 2004

The date was October 16, 2004.  It’s a day that I once hoped I would one day forget.  The Red Sox were playing Game 3 of the American League Championship Series again the New York Yankees.  Those of you who were following the Red Sox in 2004 will also remember the game and it’s significance, […]
  • 33 Years Since The Night #33 Score 60

March 12, 1985.  Celtics fans in the 1980’s will never forget it. Let’s set the stage.  The Celtics were coming off a championship season where they defeated Magic and Kareem’s Lakers in the NBA Finals to raise the team’s 15th banner.  The team was in the middle of their absolute peak in popularity in the […]
  • Bird vs. Magic: 3 Facts That END THE DEBATE

ESPN’s 30 For 30 episode “Best of Enemies” has rekindled an ageless debate his week.  Larry Bird or Magic Johnson?  In the 1980’s, this debate dominated not only the NBA, but all of professional sports.  30+ years later, fans are still talking about it.  However, as the years have gone by, something has been forgotten…the […]

The Bruins Only Hope

February 11, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Boston Bruins, Featured, Hockey, Stanley Cup

The Boston Bruins have been locked in mediocrity over the past two seasons and the hope for them to make a major playoff run is not as strong as it once was.  The 2015-16 Bruins team is good enough to make the playoffs.  Similar to last season, they’ll probably be fighting for a spot during […]

Who’s the #2 starter going to be in the Boston Red Sox rotation this year?  It’s an important question heading into Spring Training.  The success of whoever it is may decide whether or not this will be a playoff team this year.  When the Red Sox signed David Price, they got the clear-cut #1 starter […]

Celtics Trade Options

January 31, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Basketball, Boston Celtics, Featured, NBA Championship

With the NBA Trade Deadline on the horizon, it’s a good time to discuss potential trade options for the Boston Celtics.  Heading into Sunday’s game vs. Orlando, the Celtics sit at 27-21 which is good for the fourth best record in the Eastern Conference.  With a win, they could move up to third.  That’s correct. […]

Garden Disadvantage

January 28, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, Featured, Stanley Cup

The Bruins and Celtics are both struggling at TD Garden this year making it a home with no advantage.  The Bruins and Celtics have a lot in common.  They both have rosters good enough to make the playoffs.  They’re both likely going to be bottom tier playoff teams with the possibility of winning a round. […]

What If? 1988 USA Basketball Dream Team

January 24, 2016January 24, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Basketball, Featured, NBA Championship

What if there had been a 1988 USA Basketball Dream Team?  I know.  It’s not the top subject on the headlines this weekend.  However, our recent post stating why Larry Bird was better than Lebron James has opened up some debate on today’s NBA against the NBA in the 1980’s. Most NBA fans would agree […]

Why Larry Bird Was Better Than Lebron James

January 17, 2016 Joe 4 Comments Basketball, Boston Celtics, Featured, NBA Championship

Today’s post will focus on why Larry Bird was a better basketball player than Lebron James.  In the last couple of years, these two players have been compared very frequently by sports media and fans.  It’s an easy comparison to make considering that both players played the same position as small forwards.  In addition, both […]

Chiefs Overlooked

January 13, 2016 Joe Leave a comment Featured, Football, Patriots, Super Bowl

The Patriots are facing an overlooked opponent in the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.  The Chiefs have won eleven straight games and are coming off of a shutout win against the Houston Texans last weekend.  The Chiefs started off the season very poorly and were given no chance to be put in […]

ABOUT

First Score Boston - A Boston Sports Blog
The Boston sports teams are about winning and championships. Nine championships in fifteen years speaks for itself! One of the goals of all four teams is to get out in front early by scoring first. The intent of this site is get the "First Score" on multiple Boston sports topics. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be the first time you hear a specific take on a topic with every post just as the Boston teams don't score first every time. However, the intent is to give you, the reader, something unique and provide opinions on a range of topics that you don't always read about every day.

The opinions on my posts are my own. These opinions may not always be favorable and I don't expect that you'll always agree with them. The "First Score" goal is simply for the readers to enjoy reading about these topics as much as I enjoy writing about them. Your comments and feedback are welcome!
