  • The Creation Of Tom-MEEE Brady

It started with TB12.  The player who was once all about the team first and was in line with this notion that no one player is above the team has all but gone away.  Over time, the man many call the greatest football player of all time has become a “me first” guy. The creation […]
  • What Seemed Impossible On An October Night In 2004

The date was October 16, 2004.  It’s a day that I once hoped I would one day forget.  The Red Sox were playing Game 3 of the American League Championship Series again the New York Yankees.  Those of you who were following the Red Sox in 2004 will also remember the game and it’s significance, […]
  • 33 Years Since The Night #33 Score 60

March 12, 1985.  Celtics fans in the 1980’s will never forget it. Let’s set the stage.  The Celtics were coming off a championship season where they defeated Magic and Kareem’s Lakers in the NBA Finals to raise the team’s 15th banner.  The team was in the middle of their absolute peak in popularity in the […]
  • Bird vs. Magic: 3 Facts That END THE DEBATE

ESPN’s 30 For 30 episode “Best of Enemies” has rekindled an ageless debate his week.  Larry Bird or Magic Johnson?  In the 1980’s, this debate dominated not only the NBA, but all of professional sports.  30+ years later, fans are still talking about it.  However, as the years have gone by, something has been forgotten…the […]

BOSTON TD Garden Will Impact Best Of 3

May 8, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Basketball, Boston Celtics, Uncategorized

The Washington Wizards and their fans are riding high today.  For the second straight game, they completely embarrassed the Boston Celtics to tie this Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup at 2.  The game included a 26-0 run in third quarter which was about as bad as it gets.  The Wizards shot 53% from the field and […]

Baltimore Fine Whine

The Red Sox and Orioles feud on the field continued this week and MLB wants to put a stop to it.  Both teams have played a part in this, but there’s one team that wants you to think they’re not guilty.  It’s the team that hasn’t had a batter hit by a pitch.  It’s the […]

Why Al Horford Is The Best Player On The Celtics

April 30, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Basketball, Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics defeated the Washington Wizards 123-111 at TD Garden on Sunday afternoon.  The Wizards got off to a 16-0 lead.  The Celtics battled back and cruised in the second half.  There were many big contributors to the Celtics win.  Isaiah Thomas had 33 points and 9 assists.  Jake Crowder had, perhaps, his best […]

Why Celtics vs. Bulls Game 30 Years Ago Today Was Relevant

April 23, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Basketball, Boston Celtics

The Celtics and Bulls are currently battling in the 2017 NBA Playoffs.  While these two team have both had a lot of championship level success, it came at different times.  It wouldn’t be accurate to say that these two great NBA franchises are rivals.  When the history of these two teams in the playoffs is […]

Celtics Glaring Weakness Exposed Yet Again

April 17, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Basketball, Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics were defeated by the Chicago Bulls 106-102 on Sunday Night.  It wasn’t pretty.  The Celtics, as the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference, were expected to have a fairly easy time with the Bulls.  Granted, no one in their right mind really thinks the Celtics are the best team in the East, […]

In John We Trust?

April 11, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox

After the first week of the season the Red Sox are 3-3.  This certainly is not a .500 baseball roster on paper and, after a week, the record is not a big deal.  When you consider the players the Red Sox had out over the week, 3-3 is acceptable.  With that said, it was a […]

The Chris Sale Comparisons

Pedro. It’s a name that has been brought up a lot the past two days and it’s not because Red Sox Nation is reliving watching the best pitcher in the history of baseball over a seven span.  That’s right.  Pedro Martinez was pitcher of all-time during a seven-year stretch from 1997 – 2003.  Take your […]

It’s finally here!  Opening Day of the Major League Baseball season is today.  The Red Sox open their season on Monday at Fenway Park.  After another overhyped snowstorm this past weekend, baseball fans along with just about everyone in the Boston area are ready to move to spring.  Monday is the day that happens.  Opening […]

Is Tom Brady Bigger Than The Patriots?

March 22, 2017April 26, 2020 Joe Leave a comment Football, Patriots

Has Tom Brady become bigger than the New England Patriots Team?  Now is the perfect time to ask this question.  Why?  Well, we’re in the middle of a week where the biggest story in Boston sports was that Brady’s jersey was found.  Think about that for a minute.  A jersey.  Not a big team win. […]

Wake Up, Red Sox Nation!

March 19, 2017 Joe Leave a comment Baseball, Boston Red Sox, Featured

We’re two weeks from Opening Day at Fenway Park on Monday, April 3rd.  It certainly doesn’t feel like baseball season in Boston.  Temperatures are struggling to get into the upper 30’s after there was a blizzard watch earlier last week.  Winter is winning out and not just from a weather standpoint.  Boston sports fans are […]

First Score Boston - A Boston Sports Blog
The Boston sports teams are about winning and championships. Nine championships in fifteen years speaks for itself! One of the goals of all four teams is to get out in front early by scoring first. The intent of this site is get the "First Score" on multiple Boston sports topics. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be the first time you hear a specific take on a topic with every post just as the Boston teams don't score first every time. However, the intent is to give you, the reader, something unique and provide opinions on a range of topics that you don't always read about every day.

The opinions on my posts are my own. These opinions may not always be favorable and I don't expect that you'll always agree with them. The "First Score" goal is simply for the readers to enjoy reading about these topics as much as I enjoy writing about them. Your comments and feedback are welcome! Please follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Google, and Tumblr by clicking the link in the Follow Us section!
Thank you! - Joe
